If you are like most people, and barely clean the oven. You may have been noticing a kind of burning smell when you turn your oven on to cook lately. Definitely time to clean the oven, just in time for the New Year…there's no better time than now.
This process is quite simple to and there is no use of harsh chemicals.
What you'll need:
Water
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Rubber Gloves
Damp Dish Cloth
Spray Bottle
Plastic/Silicone Spatula (for Scraping)
Small Bowl
First off, you'll obviously want to remove the oven racks or anything else you keep in your oven and set it aside somewhere. Next, the paste to clean the oven needs to be made. Take your small bowl and mix; ˝ cup of baking soda, and about 3-4 tablespoons of water. (This may vary slightly until for have the right consistency). The baking soda and water combined should make a spreadable paste.
After you make the paste you will need to spread it throughout the oven, avoid spreading the paste on the heating elements though. This is the step where you may want to where the rubber gloves, as the inside of the oven is filled with grime and grease and will surely get your hands pretty dirty. After the paste is spread throughout the oven, allow it to sit overnight (or about 12 hours).
After the paste has set in, you can take a damp cloth and wipe away all of the baking soda paste, I like to wipe the inside twice. Then take your spray bottle of white vinegar and spray all surfaces in the oven, and wipe away again.
This process will leave your oven sparkling clean and more importantly no smell or smoke when you turn your oven on. Of course, replace your (clean) oven racks. Enjoy your newly cleaned oven in the New Year!
