Dynamic Duo: Vinegar and Baking Soda

If you have seen any of my earlier posts, you know the power of vinegar. Well, with a little help from it's best friend, baking soda, they make up the cleaning duo that will attack virtually any dirt and grime you can throw at it. Here are a couple examples of excellent uses of this mixture, and the best part is, IT'S ALL NATURAL!

1. Oven - you no longer need harsh chemical oven cleaners, which can get a bit expensive too. All you need is vinegar and baking soda. You will first want to remove all the oven racks and scrape up all of the big bits you can. Then sprinkle the baking soda all along the floor of the oven. Next, spray vinegar all over the baking soda (a squirt bottle or empty spray bottle works great for this). Let it sit for about 20 minutes. After you have let it sit, take a metal scrubber (unless you prefer a softer one) and scrub in CIRCULAR motions to get all the gunk up. Finish by wiping it all out with a damp sponge, which you may need to rinse a few times before you are finished.

2. Bathtub or shower drain - remove any obvious gunk and debris from the drain first. Pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain in somewhat of a circle to ensure that you cover all the drain walls. Next, pour in vinegar until you can see it bubbling up the drain and let that sit for about 20 minutes. Last, take a pot or bucket of very hot water and pour it down the drain to rinse everything away.
