How to Safely Clean Vinyl Records

Step 1
Using a a bucket, mix up about 1 part rubbing alcohol and 3 parts warm distilled water. Be sure to stir thoroughly to ensure a properly mixed solution.

Step 2
Prep a microfiber cloth by soaking it in the solution wringing out the excess liquid. Lay out the records label facing up on a clean surface and gently wipe with the cloth.

Step 3
Hold the record standing up and carefully clean with distilled water on both sides to wash away the cleaning solution. Using a new cloth, dampen with water and lightly wipe away excess dirt in a downward motion.

Step 4
With a dry cloth, dry the records and be sure to remove any excess water to prevent water spots and build up. Be sure not to press too hard to prevent scratching the record.
