3 Ways to Clean Your Jewelry with Household Products

Alka-Seltzer
If your jewelry has lost its shine a couple Alka-Seltzer tablets will bring back the bling. Boil a small pot of water then transfer it to a small bowl. Add 2 Alka-Seltzer tablets then drop in your jewelry. Let sit for 10 minutes then remove each piece and gently scrub with a tooth brush. Finish by rinsing with cold water.

Aluminum Foil
A great way to brighten up those favorite pieces of jewelry is through a process called Ion-exchange. To accomplish this method simply line a small bowl with aluminum foil and add one tablespoon of bleach-free powdered laundry detergent. Add your jewelry and let soak for 1 minute. After the soaking step is complete, remove your jewelry and rinse with cold water.

Ammonia
This quick and easy solution for cleaning your jewelry only requires one household product. Mix together 1/2 cup of clear ammonia and 1 cup of warm water. Soak your jewelry in this solution for 10 minutes then remove and wipe clean with a soft cloth.
(WARNING: Do not use this method with jewelry containing pearls. The ammonia could dull or damage their surface.)
